CANDICE ANN MORAGA (a.k.a. DIVALICIOUS CANDI) presently serves as PRESIDENT of DIVALICIOUS CANDI PRODUCTIONS, benefitting DIVALICIOUS CANDI WILDLIFE HABITAT & SONGBIRD SANCTUARY, certified by National Wildlife Federation. Independently minded, yet fiercely loyal to those who reciprocate her love, the songwriter/poetess infuses her life with music emanating from the stereo amplifier that emigrated from West Germany (her birthplace) to the USA with her. Daughter of wartime veterans, the MULTICULTURAL/LATINA DIVA has lived in many locales- fusing both urban & country experiences; DIVALICIOUS CANDI is comfortable belting out tunes on forest mountaintops/subways/desert canyons/streets. With parents possessing different native tongues, the MULTI-LINGUAL DIVA has sung in Spanish/Italian/French/German/Welsh/English/Latin & speaks Spanish/Italian/German/Portuguese/English. Descended from Spanish conquistadores/Native Americans through her skydiver/pilot father (who left his native Bolivia during a revolución), Candi's adventuresome spirit has had outlets in extensive skydiving experience/piloting sport aircraft/powered parachuting/hot air ballooning/kayaking/cliff-diving/zip-lining/mountain climbing/canyon hiking/wilderness camping/survival. A CLASSICALLY TRAINED MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST like her mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, Candi is well-versed in MUSICIANSHIP, achieving the edge in vocal competitions. DIVALICIOUS CANDI studied voice/flute/piano/acoustic guitar academically & plays solid silver flutes (including one her mother played to her when she was still in the womb)/Irish tin whistle/German wooden flute/electric guitar/bass/drums. Singing weekly as a member of her church choir & touring with Valley Voices for Christ influenced her SOULFUL STYLE of SINGING. Winning AWARDS for MUSIC/POETRY/SCIENCE/ACADEMICS, the MULTI-TALENTED ARTIST also studied body language with jazz dance/ballet/bellydancing & performed in musical theatre/forensics/dramatics competitions. The published poet recited her original poetry & sang as a State Finalist for New York at the Miss American Teen Pageant, later modeling on custom motorcycles & aircraft for calendars. As a Girl Scout, the HIGHLY CREATIVE/COMMUNICATIVE SPIRIT earned storytelling/sewing badges, showing her affinity for sewing her own fashion/costume designs at an early age on her mother's Singer Starlet sewing machine. In due time, Candi became a PROFESSIONAL FASHION CONSULTANT at the offices of Victoria's Secret/Limited Brands; she´s considered an EXPERT on the quality/construction/display of lingerie/hosiery/fashion apparel. ACHIEVING THE #1 GPA IN HER CLASS, Candi advanced to university at the age of 16, EARNING HER DEGREE on FULL SCHOLARSHIP. Candi studied music performance/education/aviation/finance/business strategy/marketing/theatre/philosophy/poetry/film/astronomy/zoology/Native American studies at the collegiate level in New York & Oklahoma (where she became known to her adoptive Native American family as the "Yankee Kiowa"). Introduced to FEMINIST THINKING as a university student, Candi realized how differently she was always treated from her brother, who attended the same church, worked at the same establishments & was in her classes from kindergarten through college (he graduated early to attend college as well). POST-GRADUATE STUDIES in childhood development led to positions as a social worker, teaching on Navajo/Apache reservations & Spanish/English bilingual teaching positions in the American Southwest. With the strong Native American influence, Candi tapped into her natural skills as a beadwork artist- a timeless craft practiced by generations of women in her family preceding her. Candi continued her POST-GRADUATE STUDIES in physics/human anatomy/chemistry, leading to her acceptance into multiple doctorate programs in New York & Texas, where she attended chiropractic university. "THE STORY OF MY LIFE"- a book she wrote as an elementary student - illustrated CANDI´S VISION of her FUTURE in MUSIC, AVIATION & HEALTHCARE/WELL-BEING. Often underestimated/completely misunderstood, the diva is currently penning work for an EXTREMELY INTIMATE BOOK of POETRY/PROSE/SONG-LYRICS for INTERNATIONAL RELEASE to hard-back/paper-back/e-book formats, entitled "A SPIRIT BREAKING FREE." Topics addressed include her NUMEROUS ACHIEVEMENTS/SCANDALS, including a brief Las Vegas marriage officiated by the "Phantom of the Opera," overcoming years of domestic abuse, mourning the events of "9/11"- during which the diva lived in New York City, having produced a financial conference on the 107th floor of the World Trade Center on 9/11/00- & on CHASING DREAMS- no matter what the cost! DIVALICIOUS CANDI lives life according to her own rules & refuses to be beaten down, protecting the LIGHT OF HER INNER SPIRIT with a BRAZEN ATTITUDE that has been termed "DIVATUDE" (also the name of one of her organic fragrances). Proceeds of her original songs have been donated to The Sweet Relief Fund- assisting musicians with healthcare costs & Half The Sky Movement- empowering women/girls worldwide. DIVALICIOUS CANDI is a founding member of the National Women's History Museum in Washington, D.C. & SUPPORTS ENVIRONMENTAL/HUMANITARIAN CAUSES such as Defenders of Wildlife/Heifer International/BigBrothers BigSisters/One Campaign to end extreme poverty & preventable diseases. HEALTH being a PRIORITY; Candi contributes to cancer research in honor of her father- a SURVIVOR of multiple myeloma cancer, her college roommate (R.I.P.) & godmother (R.I.P.), with whom Candi shares a middle name/birthday.
